In the global hierarchy of soccer, girls worldwide still often find themselves on the outside looking in, without equal access to the same opportunities afforded to boys.

love.fútbol seeks to do away with this hierarchy to provide all children, both male and female, the right to play soccer in a safe environment

In 2007, love.fútbol completed its second project in Las Canoas Altas, a small village in western Guatemala. This photo is of the girls team that was formed from the local primary school. The team began practicing on the LF field and became quite good. They won their regional tournament and went on to represent the province of Sololá in a national tournament the following year.

In a village where opportunities for girls to play were once limited, the construction of the field provided them with a safe place to develop their talents to play the game they love as much as the boys.
