Drew Chafetz, love.fútbol’s co-founder and CEO and Mano Silva, COO and President of love.fútbol Brazil attended FIFA’s second annual Football for Hope Forum in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. This renowned conference was a chance for organizations that believe soccer can be a social change agent to convene and discuss their ideas and future ambitions. A letter from our co-founder:
It was a privilege for Mano and I to attend FIFA’s second Football for Hope Forum in Belo Horizonte, especially at such a pertinent moment for Brazil. Being one year away from the World Cup, we felt part of an important discussion with regard to the role of global sporting events in host nations, and the responsibility to the lives of people in that country. The Social Development through Soccer sector has come a long way since the 2006 and 2010 World Cups and is in a strong position to collaborate with other stakeholders to leave a sustainable and grassroots social legacy.
I also had a special opportunity to return to Recife – my first time back in fourteen months – and meet with our growing love.fútbol Brazil team. I am inspired by the quality, diversity and commitment of the individuals that lead love.fútbol today, and their ability to extend our mission to new communities with more quality and professionalism than ever before.
love.fútbol is more motivated than ever to use the power and influence of soccer to create social and economic development opportunities for the people and communities that have felt left behind through the course of the coming World Cup in Brazil.
My very best from the team.
