In order to commemorate those important people who assist in our development projects, we at love.fútbol have decided to honor a leader from each of our current locations at the end of the month. For the month of May, we’re highlighting Aldair Fagundes, of the São Francisco project in Foz do Iguaçu, and Sandro, of the Perdizes project in Curitiba. Foz do Iguaçu:

Aldair has been passionate about soccer his entire life. Although a physical disability prevented him from engaging as a field player, Aldair has been actively involved in the sport by serving as a radio sports announcer. He also founded a local soccer team, Esporte Clube São Francisco, 27 years ago.

Aldair has been crucial to the current project in Foz do Iguaçu, providing leadership to all involved in the construction of a new field, as well as proving his commitment to both the sport and the community. He has also used his public relations skills to broadcast the project in regional news outlets, helping to recruit many volunteers. For these reasons, the new field was baptized in his name.

Sandro is the coach of the women’s team within the Coritiba Football Club. Without Sandro, the love.fútbol project in Perdizes would be non-existent. Sandro’s prize for winning the Coca-Cola Cup—a soccer tournament in which teams of young athletes compete—was the development of a soccer field for the community. A public field will be extremely beneficial to soccer players in Perdizes. Right now, it is very expensive to rent private fields in the area, due to the lack of public space. Sandro is also working alongside the Coritiba Football Club. He and other committee members hope to gain the involvement of professional soccer players in the project soon, which would surely excite young members of the community.

On behalf of everyone at love.fútbol, thank you, Aldair and Sandro, for your outstanding efforts and continuous devotion to our cause!
